2010

Standard

is the year I sought out my friends less, and stayed with myself more.

seized the moment to be happy in the ‘here and now.’

and arrest the downward spiralling of my thoughts…

(today is not that day. it just dawned on me that i have only 4 days left before i leave for KL)

very:-(

a vacation within a vacation

Standard

we went to mysore.
ma couldnt make it in the last minute.
so it was just my dad and me and the boys.

my reputation preceded me, i think. the resort had four kinds of delicious desserts after every meal.

and they also thought the mmmim was coming for breakfast — idli, vada, dosa, samea upma, pongal, poori and aloo + sambar ; coconut : tomato chutney.

i cannot be intimate with a vada (and the rest of the aforementioned ) before 9 a.m., so i sat breakfast out.

there's a 5 y.o. and a 3 y.o hiding behind those columns

my fav. men

i often seem to find a lovable 9 y.o. who wants to take baby param off my hands. yay!

this part of the resort looked so much like KL

i love kids who can amuse themselves (with not exactly riveting stuff) like grass and dew. found this kiddo at brindavan gardens

how symmetrically and neatly these fruits are cut. if it were me, there would be only watermelon kootu or thogayal

hyperbole

Standard

firstborn tried to draw from memory one of rob’s elephants from the m.a.d show on pogo.

his effort
was marginally tolerable. too long a tail, striped trunk and no ears.

verdict:

i went with “cute”
ma went with “very nice”

and my dad went with “better than the original”

pshaw. this ‘wah wah’ing should be tempered with a pinch of salt methinks

38 reasons to fly into a rage with the mmmim

Standard

so.
~ i planned the birthday surprise.
~ rounded up 38 gifts (excluding the ompodi)
~ had the bag hidden in a corner of our home
~ called him at exactly midnight

and he’s working from home. with a couple of other colleagues. racing towards a deadline.

never mind. just take a look, i say.

and he says, “i’ll keep everything as it is. when you come back here in January, let’s open the gifts together.”

is baby param ready for play school in January

Standard

yes:
~ he’s susu trained
~ speaks english
~ thinks there’s life outside of TV
~ competes with 5 year olds
~ i trust the playschool (friendly small school, one teacher ten kids ratio)
~ i need the break from my kids
~ firstborn goes to the same school
~ my Dad says yes
~ life in KL is rather isolated unlike life in chennai

No:

~ ma says no.
~ the mmmim says no
~ he’s only 2.5 years old
~ school is 4 hours long
~ too early
~firstborn went only after he turned three

before i came here to chennai for a visit i was convinced i would wait till he turned three; now i think he is ready. help.
