I am wearing a pochampally cotton sari starched and maroon, on a hot summer day.
I show the boys a spray of hot sambar that I inadvertently spilt while cooking, that I am wiping off.
“but what are these white patches, ma. is it kaka-pee? or maybe they are indra’s lightning bolts?” firstborn wants to know.
a way way overdue lesson on ikat, coming up.
It is difficult to appreciate this without a photograph of this saree. Also, am impressed that you cook wearing starched sarees.
what! I already wear starched saris! now I have to click pix too? sorry i have already crossed my activity limit, sue-ness. but i can pass you some sambar…, though!
lol.. though I like pochampalli, the first impression after seeing them was somewhere on the line with firstborn.. 🙂
ouchie!
LOL!
Loving the daily posts – catching up all today!
that’s half the morning gone! chox!! come back to blogging!
I love firstborn’s way of thinking 😀
Your first-born is the man after my own heart.
hahahahah! First born really is adorable 🙂
I have to agree with firstborn. Not a big fan of pochampallis which is why I don’t ever wear the beautiful black and orange one in my closet. It is my favorite color combination but, alas, a pochampalli, too. 😦
I like Pochampallis and their second cousins, the Orissa Ikats. As a matter of fact, I love all things Ikat and someday, when I can afford to, I want to own one of those heavy- duty Patolas. Are you one of those people that religiously visits handloom exhibitions, sometimes just to sigh at all the beauty? (I am).
i love how the geometry crescendos into motifs in a sari more than any other garment
egad! i don’t have a pochampally. Just realised
this should be remedied at the earliest. hey! I love using egad too…:-)
